Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons hojicha tea leaves or 1 hojicha tea bag
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based, your choice)
  • Ice cubes
  • Sweetener (optional, like honey, sugar, or syrup)

Method

  1. Brew the hojicha tea: If using loose tea leaves, place them in a teapot or infuser. Pour hot water (about 90°C or 194°F) over the tea leaves or tea bag and steep for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Cool the tea: Remove the tea leaves or bag and let the brewed tea cool to room temperature. You can also place it in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process.
  3. Prepare the milk: While the tea is cooling, froth your milk if you prefer a frothy texture. You can heat it slightly and use a frother or whisk to create a nice foam.
  4. Assemble the latte: Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the cooled hojicha tea over the ice.
  5. Add the milk: Slowly pour the milk into the glass with the tea and ice.
  6. Sweeten if desired: Add sweetener to taste and stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
  7. Enjoy: Your iced hojicha latte is ready to be enjoyed.
