Method
- Peel the ginger root using a spoon or a peeler.
- Slice the ginger into thin pieces or grate it finely. The finer the ginger, the stronger the flavour.
- In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Once the water is boiling, add the sliced or grated ginger.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes. The longer it simmers, the stronger the ginger flavour.
- After simmering, strain the tea into a cup or teapot to remove the ginger pieces.
Add Sweetener and Lemon (Optional):
- Stir in honey to taste, if desired.
- Add a splash of lemon juice for a refreshing twist.
Serve:
- Enjoy your shogayu tea hot.
