This recipe gives your pork belly bites a delicious Asian twist with a sweet and savoury glaze.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound pork belly, cut into ¾-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Toasted sesame seeds and scallions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Marinate: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, honey, ginger, garlic, and Sriracha (if using). Add the pork belly cubes and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
Prepare Glaze: Whisk together cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of water to create a slurry in a small bowl
Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the pork belly cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Discard the marinade.
Cook: Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
Glaze the Bites: In the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, open the air fryer and carefully brush the pork belly with the cornstarch slurry. Continue cooking until the glaze thickens slightly and the pork is golden brown and crispy.
Serve: Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped scallions (optional) and serve immediately with your favourite dipping sauce.
Dipping Sauce Ideas:
- Sweet chili sauce
- Sriracha mayo
- Sesame oil and soy sauce mixture
- Teriyaki sauce
Tips:
- Pat the pork belly dry before marinating for optimal crispiness.
- Adjust the amount of Sriracha to your desired spice level.
- If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat setting, simply run it for 3 minutes at 400°F before adding the pork belly.
- Be careful when brushing the glaze on as the hot air can make it splatter.
